What is the meaning of life?
In 2006, I launched this site and asked people from all around the world to answer the question, "What is the meaning of life?" I allowed them to respond in words or to express their thoughts through artwork. There were no guidelines, except to keep any written responses to under one thousand words in length. I posed the question. Then, I waited.
One year later, I had received thousands of written responses and hundreds of pieces of artwork from more than thirty countries around the world, spanning six continents. Some answers made me laugh, some made me cry. Some of them touched on the unexplainable beauty of life, while others told of a cold, bitter world. Some answers were scientific, some spiritual, some philosophical. Some were grounded, others were dreamy, some pointless, others chock full of meaning.
I have recently self-published a book that has many of the most interesting, enlightening, and comical responses I received. It is meant to be a celebration of the infinite possibilities, choices, opinions, diversity, and beauty of life. I hope it encapsulates even a tiny portion of the vast human experience and hopefully people can gain something of value in their lives by seeing what others from around the world think about this crazy little thing we call life.
